About the trend
What is the Charme dance AI trend?
Charme dance AI drops you into a baile charme, the street parties of Rio de Janeiro’s R&B and soul scene, where the whole crowd moves through the relaxed, compact steps Brazil has danced since the 1980s. It started with a clip filmed at a retro charme night at Pedra do Sal in August 2026: a man in the crowd dancing perfectly on the beat and grinning at the phone filming him. It passed two and a half million views. In October, an AI version spread from Brazil to Spanish-speaking TikTok and then to the US through a template known as The Walking Step.
Most viral clips swapped a famous face in for the dancer. Here it is whoever is in your photo, wearing their own clothes, surrounded by anonymous partygoers. It works best with someone you know: a grandpa in a polo shirt or an aunt in her Sunday best, moving like they have been at this party every Saturday for forty years.

Shot by shot
1The crowd
Nighttime at a crowded Rio street party, lit by a bright street lamp, with mural banners and blue tents behind the dancers. You start just left of center, leaning in and swinging your arms.
2Low swing
You move to the center, lean forward and sweep one arm low across your body, right on the beat.
3Side to side
You sway side to side and briefly turn away while a partygoer in a straw hat dances beside you.
4The grin
You turn back to the camera with a huge grin, completely at ease in the crowd.
5Into the groove
You keep swaying with small shoulder moves, then lower your head and sink into the rhythm.
